What make you proud of your area?

Imagine that the Youth Union is organising a competition entiled “What makes you proud of your area?”. Competitiors have to choose something special about that area and make a presentation about it. It can be a local product, traditional craft or place of interest.

Now…

1. Work in groups and discuss the thing you are going to talk about.
2. Collect pictures from diffirent sources or draw picture of this thing.
3. Stick the pictures on a big piece of paper.
4. Search for information about this thing (its orgin/history, how to make it, its special features, etc.)
5. Prepare a presentation. Remember to assign who will talk about what.
6. Give a presentation to the class.

Tưởng tượng rằng Đoàn Thanh niên sắp tổ chức cuộc thi mang tên “ niềm tự hào về quê hương của em”. Người tham gia phải chọn một điều đặc biệt ở nơi ở của họ và thuyết trình về nó. Đó có thể là một đặc sản, một đồ thủ công truyền thống hoặc một địa điểm tham quan hấp dẫn…

1. Làm việc theo nhóm và thảo luận về thứ mà các em muốn nói về.
2. Thu thập những bức ảnh từ những nguồn khác nhau hoặc vẽ tranh về thứ đó.
3. Dán những bức tranh đó lên một tấm giấy lớn.
4. Tìm kiếm thông tin về thứ đó ( nguồn gốc/lịch sử, cách làm ra nó như thế nào, những đặc trưng của nó…)
5. Chuẩn bị một bài thuyết trình. Nhớ phân công rõ ai sẽ nói về phần nào.
6. Thuyết trình trước cả lớp.

I’m on behaft of my group to give our presentation. We would like to present about Dong Ho paintings.

Dong Ho painting is a kind of Vietnamese folk painting orgination in Dong Ho village in Song Ho Commune, Thuan Thanh District, Bac Ninh Province. Dong Ho paintings have about 300 years of history in the north of Vietnam.

Dong Ho paintings is considered a fine reflection of traditional value, humanitarian desires. The traditional themes if Dong Ho painting are good luck signs, historical figures, folk allegories, pupolar stories. Because Dong Ho paintings are mainly bought and displayed on the occasion of Tet holiday ( Lunar New Year), contents are often humorous and optimistic with bright and powerful colors such as red, yellow, and white. The most popular and best-selling paintings are Lon dan, Ga dan, and Chan trau thoi sao, which represent the wish for prosperity, happiness and luck in the New Year.

Dong Ho painting is the exclusive product of the Dong Ho village. Craftsmen in the village often produce their own raw materials for the making such as Diep paper and natural colors.

Located in Bac Ninh province, around one hour drive from Hanoi city, visitors coming to this small village will have the chance to learn more about the unique art of making Dong Ho paintings.
